The Six Minute Prayer
Are you looking for a way to jump start intimacy in your marriage and strengthen your prayer life at the same time? The six minute prayer could be just the thing for your marriage.
This prayer is broken down into 3 parts per person at 1 minute each for a total of 6 minutes, so it doesn’t require a lot of time. This is something that all couples can learn, and when done properly can have a significant positive impact in your marriage. It’s also an easy as 1, 2, 3:
1. To begin the husband starts by praising the LORD, and giving thanks for 1 minute for all the LORD has done, including for his spouse. The wife follows her husband’s lead, and also gives the LORD praise and thanksgiving for 1 minute.
2. Next, for 1 minute the husband starts by repenting to the LORD, and asking forgiveness for all the ways he may have broken the Father’s heart. The wife also follows her husband’s lead for 1 minute, and begins repenting for her wrongdoing and asking forgiveness as well.
3. Finally, for 1 minute each but starting with the husband, he begins to bless his wife in the name of the LORD. Once the husband has completed, the wife also expresses her blessing upon her husband as well.
One thing that is significant about this method is that both spouses can actually hear what is in their heart as they pray and cry out to the LORD verbally. We aren’t praying to our spouses, this is just an opportunity for our spouse to hear what is actually in our heart which isn’t normally spoken out loud. This isn’t something that you normally get to experience, and this is definitely a vulnerable moment that is sure to impact and grow intimacy in your marriage.
